Palatine, IL--(HISPANIC PR WIRE)--December 14, 2007--Hundreds of U.S. Hispanics demonstrated their patriotic spirit in representing their country of heritage and passion for outdoor grilling. It is a woman descending from Guatemala who made the biggest impact among consumers and has won the “Únete a la Onda Latina… ¡a Weber!” grilling contest.

Within a month, approximately 5,000 consumers visited Weber’s website, ondalatinaweber.com, to view the top five finalists’ grilling video submissions and cast their votes for their favorite Hispanic griller. Los Angeles resident Osiris Cordova received an overwhelming majority of these votes—naming her “Weber’s Queen of the Grill.” Cordova will be awarded two round-trip airline tickets to any destination in Latin-America of her choice.

In addition to the Latin-America destination trip, Cordova--who has a catering business and attended the California School of Culinary Arts in Pasadena–will receive a professional grilling class from chef and best-selling cookbook author Jamie Purviance

“I’m so excited – I can’t believe I won!” said Cordova. “I haven’t decided whether to go to Chile, Brazil or Ecuador, but it’s a decision I’m looking forward to making soon.”

In addition to the Latin-America destination trip, Cordova--who has a catering business and attended the California School of Culinary Arts in Pasadena–will receive a professional grilling class from chef and best-selling cookbook author Jamie Purviance. She will also appear in Weber’s 2008 Spanish media campaign.

Cordova, along with 19 semi-finalists, also received a Weber Q(TM) 220 portable gas grill and Weber grilling accessory packet.

The contest, which launched in May, asked consumers to submit an original grilling recipe and video demonstration explaining why they should be chosen to represent their country of heritage and be selected to be a part of Weber’s Grilling Team. Twenty contestants were selected as semi-finalists based on creativity/originality, appropriateness to the theme, and clarity of expression.
